Poor communication may lead to head lice re-infestation

In honor of the new No More Louse-y Days® Blog, which is our attempt to openly communicate the true facts of lice to the world, we thought it would be appropriate to write our first real blog post about how important it is for you to openly communicate during a head lice event.

Trust us, we know openly communicating is hard when it comes to head lice.  People still have an irrational feeling of embarrassment and shame when they learn that someone in their family has head lice, and the result typically causes people to keep the news hush, hush.

However, you don’t need to feel one ounce of embarrassement.  Why?  Because almost everyone gets head lice at some point in there life.  According to the CDC, there are an estimated 6-12 million cases of head lice in the United States every year.  So, you are in good company, and chances are that the people you should communicate to have had head lice at some point in their life.

By not communicating, you are only hurting yourself, because you are dramatically increasing your chances of getting re-infested by head lice.  Let’s face it, your kids originally got head lice from somewhere, most likely a friend or a schoolmate.  Chances are there is still head lice going around your social circle, with many people unaware that they have it.

If you still have second thoughts regarding openly communicating, LouseCalls has created an anonymous email alert system that will communicate the proper message to all of your friends and family for you, and they will never know it came from you.  Simply go to the Anonymous Email Alert page on the LouseCalls web site, and enter all of the email addresses of your friends and family.  An anonymous email will be sent to them from LouseCalls alerting them that they should screen their family for head lice.

Rest assured, this is a completely anonymous email.  It will not have your name associated to it in any way, shape or form.  Additionally, LouseCalls does not save the emails that you enter (including yours), therefore we will never use the email addresses you provide to send any additional marketing information to you or your friends.  This is solely a service to help you openly communicate.

Do you really want to get rid of your head lice and make sure it stays gone?  Then remember these 3 simple words:  Communicate… Communicate… Communicate!  With our anonymous email alert, you no longer have an excuse not to.

Wishing you No More Louse-y Days,

Amy

This is so so true. Right now we are dealing with a massive infestation because we had girls sleeping over at our house all summer who had lice at the end of the school year. For 6 weeks at least now I have been vacuuming mattresses, vacuuming the couch, the couch is blocked off with furniture (hoping for a die off), spraying everything and everyone with tea tree oil solution, washing all the bedding, pillows and clothes in hot water high heat, picking eggs out of hair and dousing my loved ones in poisons. I CAN’T STAND IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!! I have called parents, they did nothing. I called the school, they did nothing. I called the school district nurse and finally someone checked those girls. And still I had to be the one to get the eggs out of one of their hair.
WHY DO THE SCHOOLS NOT DO LICE CHECKS ANYMORE? My kids haven’t had one at school for the last 2 years. I am at the end of my rope.
